Sponge Profiles / Gaskets
For special applications it is possible to produce cellular profiles which combine the typical properties of sponge articles with the individual properties of silicone type products.

Silex produces silicone-rubber sponge/foam profiles according to customer specifications for the industrial- as well as for the food markets (raw material conformity according to FDA).

Because of a high variety of different processes of blowing, the final products are very customized to your application depending on tensile strength, compression set und the type of cells (open / closed).

Furthermore Silex produce also profiles / gaskets made of 2 different rubbers, so-called "co-extruded profiles". This technology allows us to combine solid and sponge rubber in one profile / gasket.

Linked to the process the hoses always have a closed skin.

The standard set up of the articles are rolled rings or customer specified.

Type of profiles / properties

• Profiles equipped with a self adhesive tape.
• Production of O-rings by bonding or vulcanising.
• Using of filaments in order to minimise elongation stress.
• Reducing of coefficient of friction in order to become a smooth surface.
• Open cells up to most closed cells.
• Natural white colour or special colours according to the RAL-system.
• Food contact applications in accordance with FDA conformity of the used raw materials (FDA § 177.2600).
• Very high thermal- and sound-isolation level.
• High sealing behaviour because of easy compression and high elasticity (compensation of tolerances).
• Typical silicone properties are very high hot-air resistance, weathering- and ageing resistance (UV, ozone) as well as very low variation of properties over a range of temperatures.
